Volunteer

Family volunteers are the foundation of Friends of Skinner North--we couldn't do what we do without you. Being a volunteer doesn't require any special skills--you simply need to be yourself. As you share your time and skills, know that you are benefiting the school and our students. Knowing that you play a role in achieving this success is the satisfying part.

If you are interested in volunteering for a committee or an event, please click on the links below. Depending on your availability, you can spend as little as 30 minutes, as much as a whole day, or be the lead for an entire project. Some events may require you be in school, but there is a lot of work that can be done outside of school as well that does not require CPS Volunteer Approval.

Volunteer Sign-Up Survey

We are updating our list of members, and gathering their interests and skills in order to manage FoSN opportunities and ensure volunteer optimization and satisfaction; we'd like to add your interests and skills!

Please click here to complete the survey. This survey should take 5 minutes or less.

Classroom Volunteer Opportunities

Classroom Volunteers

Most classrooms at Skinner North, especially in the lower grades, welcome classroom volunteers. These volunteers may assist with a wide range of projects both in and out of the classroom. In order to volunteer, you must be a CPS approved volunteer.

Contact your child's teacher to learn more about volunteer opportunities in the classroom. You can also volunteer to assist with specials, especially art!

CPS Volunteer Approval Process

Volunteers who work with students or in the school, including classroom volunteers and field trip chaperones, must complete the CPS Volunteer Approval Process. Most volunteers can complete the simple Level II Approval. Visit CPS's Volunteer Information Page for instructions on becoming a volunteer.
