5/6th Grade Girls Basketball Team Claims the Dett Conference!!

February 12, 2020

Skinner North 5/6th grade girls basketball team wins last 5 games to claim the Dett Conference Championship!!

After starting the season with two losses, some may have thought a championship was out the realm of possibility, but our Skinner North 5/6th Grade Girls Basketball Team tied together a 5-game winning streak to stun the division and give our school it’s first-ever girls sports championship win in Skinner North history!

The championship drive began in the regular season with a 12-11 double-overtime victory over Ogden in week 4 behind a game-winning free throw from Lillie S. The following week, point guard Asha L. won the game 8-7 with 2 free throws with only 2 seconds remaining. These two nail-biters helped our Skinner team secure a spot in the championship game. The team became known for its relentless defense, teamwork and positive attitude.

Skinner North played Pritzker for the championship last Saturday in a packed gymnasium at Ogden/Jenner Elementary School. The lead went back and forth between both schools until Skinner finally pulled away in the 4th quarter to seal a 14-8 victory and earn the 1st place plaque! Coach Anthony Moseley celebrated the championship with his coaching partner Kristen Boike and said, "the energy of our team is contagious and I hope this great season is a boost to our basketball program and encourages our players to continue to play team sports together with Skinner North pride."

Congratulations to our Skinner North 5th/6th Grade Girls Basketball Team and Coach Kristen &

Coach Anthony on an AMAZING season!
