CHESS: CPS Kings & Queens Tournament Wrap-up

15 Skinner North children participated in a fun 5 board tournament at Whitney Young High School. Our K-8 team of Jack H, Andy C, Evan C, Niccolo L and Mitchell A earned a 3rd place trophy, losing only to the 1st place team from the host school.

Congratulations especially to Mitchell on his unbeaten day with 3 wins and a draw. Our K-6 team of Doug Z, Richard W, Elaine C, Julian M and Sinan H also earned a 3rd place trophy. Elaine C's perfect day with four wins in four games was the standout performance.

The Galaxy Girls from Skinner North Girls’ Lego Robotics team demonstrated their team spirit in the FLL State competition yesterday at the Elgin Community College. The team’s highest table score was 123 points, and they were nominated for Core Value presentation at the end of the ceremony. A lot of competitors were skilled, experienced, and sponsored by organizations or private sector businesses.

We are thankful to coach Andrea & coach John for leading the group! Galaxy Girls won’t give up in their challenges. What fun is there without challenges in lives anyway?
