Chess: Bateman Invitational Wrap-Up
Thirty-one Skinner North children participated in the 3rd annual Bateman Invitational. We earned first place team trophies in all three sections (K-4, 5-8 and Advanced). Many of our children earned individual honors. In the Advanced section Jack H (5.0) and Evan C (3.5, with only loss to Jack) garnered 1st and 2nd place individual trophies to lead the way. In the K-4 section, Siddharth M led the way with a 5.0 and 1st place! Eamonn K and Andrew X both earned trophies with 4.0 scores. Max Z just missed a trophy due to tiebreak rules, but his 8th place finish earned him a medal!
As good a day as the rest of the team had, nothing can compare to what our 5-8 team did. They didn't just win first place as a team, they ran away with it. Shockingly, for the first time I've ever seen, one school won all the individual trophies. Congratulations to Matthew C (4.5) on his 1st place trophy. Well done, Niccolo L, Paul S, Doug Z, Simon B, Julian M and Rhett S!
Congratulations to the following students who qualified for the Cross Country City Championships! Come cheer them on Saturday, October 27th at Washington Park, 5700 S. Russell Drive starting at 10:00 a.m.
Good luck to our Skinner North Cross Country runners! We are so proud of you!

Led by Ms. Ridgway & Mr. Marsden, our 5th – 8th grade students had an opportunity to utilize their mathematical problem solving skills in a competitive setting, competing both as individuals and as a group.
Our team represented Skinner North well in this first competition of the year!
