Many upper grade students participated in walkouts, sit ins, and other events to remember the victims of the Parkland shooting. These student-led events demonstrated civic engagement and thoughtfulness.
The school held a Pi reciting contest on Pi Day, 3/14. The students blew us all away with the winner reciting 262 digits! Congrats to all the classroom winners: K: Charlie and Hannah, 1: Miles and Milos, 2: Shreenidhi and Finn, 3: Max and Anjali, 4: Kimberly and Noah, 5: Sou Lynn and Alisha, 6: Jemma and Sebastian, 7: Harry and Samee, and 8: Bernadette.
City STEM Fair at the MSI
Two Skinner North 7th graders, Sameer and Sean, competed in the City STEM Fair. Both won special cash prizes for their projects!
29 Skinner North students competed in the Illinois K-8 Championship. The 4-5 Team won 3rd place, the K-1 Team won 5th place, and the 2-3 Team won 6th place. Noah S won the 1st place U500 trophy and Leo H won the 1st place Kindergarten class trophy. Andy C won the 9th place individual trophy and Sidd M earned the 2nd place U800 trophy.
40 students also competed in the CPS City Playoffs. Our K-2 team took 2nd place, our K-4 team took 3rd place, our K-6 team took 2nd place, and our K-8 team took 1st place! Leon C won 1st place and Jack H 2nd in their divisions. Andrew X also earned a 1st place individual trophy in the K-2 section and Julian M earned a 3rd place trophy in the K-4 section.
