“Reading makes immigrants of us all. It takes us away from home, but more important, it finds homes for us everywhere.” -- Jean Rhys
Thanks to parent donations, we are up to 12 donated books for our library! We are excited to announce the first few titles celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month that have already been ordered by parents, The Only Road by Alexandra Diaz, I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sanchez, and Separate Is Never Equal: Sylvia Mendez and Her Family Fight for Desegregation, with even more on the way.
Help bring diverse stories to our Skinner North library! The Diversity Committee has created Amazon wish lists with diverse stories for younger and older kids. When you order books from these lists, they will be sent sent directly to the school. We will continue to add books throughout the year in line with our diversity celebrations.
We are excited to showcase these new library additions, so come on by the library and take a peek. Thank you for your support in expanding our children’s world by reading stories from across the globe and across cultures. During the month of November, our Amazon wishlist has a focus on stories of immigration to coincide with our celebration at International Fest.
