Greetings! The Skinner North Diversity Committee and FoSN Social Committee are excited to announce this year’s International Festival! The International Festival will be Friday, November 17th from 4 to 6:30pm.
The International Festival invites families to celebrate the cultural diversity of the Skinner North community. We will have table displays that feature different countries and cultures. Students will be given a passport that will be stamped as they visit different tables and learn more about their peers and themselves.
International Festival includes two main components, of which families are welcome to participate in one or both:
1) Table Displays. We would like to have as many countries and cultures represented as possible. Displays could include historical information, famous people, music, inventions, traditional dress, holidays, games, crafts, etc. It is completely up to the parents who are representing a country/culture to create their display. In the past, we’ve had tables representing the African American community, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Jamaica, Korea, Palestine, Panama, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Serbia, Switzerland, Thailand and many other countries.
2) Cultural Performances: There is also the opportunity to provide a three-to-five minute music/dance/artistic performance representing different cultures, communities, or countries. The performances will be held on the stage in the school auditorium.
Please let us know by Tuesday, October 31st if you would like to be part of creating a display and/or providing a cultural performance.

We will introduce you to others who are interested in highlighting the same culture the following week so you can work together.
