Arts Updates

February 1, 2015

Thank you so very much for bringing your recyclables to school instead of the landfill. The 4th grade students are working on a paper mache project and are in dire need of NEWSPAPER.  Bring in your Chicago Tribunes, Sun-Times, and Wall Street Journals to be transformed into African masks!

Is home improvement on your New Year’s resolution list?! If so, think of us! We are looking for paint swatches of all colors and sizes and we will have a container ready for you in the parent room!  You can find paint swatches in any home improvement store in the paint section, they are the little cards that have different paint colors for the budding painter.

Your toilet paper and paper towel roll donations made this 3rd grade artwork possible! Thanks!

Thank you for all your contributions!

2015 starts off with some great cultural events in Chicago and here are some events that Skinner Families are attending this month:

The Festival features public performances across the city, a symposium sponsored by the University of Chicago and hosted at the Museum of Contemporary Art, and workshops leading up to and during the Festival. For those of you whose imaginations are curious and whose hearts are young, we hope you can join us. And for those of you who have yet to see a contemporary puppet show, we can guarantee it will be like nothing you have ever seen before.

“The Selfish Giant” at the Chicago Children’s Theatre

SNArt Group Outing:  Saturday, Feb.21st @ 1pm

January marks the return of the all-ages hit show The Selfish Giant, a musical spectacle created for CCT in 2008 by two Chicago theater icons – master puppeteer Blair Thomas and singer-songwriter Michael Smith – based on Oscar Wilde’s classic story about a grumpy giant who forbids children from playing in his garden.

The Children’s Theatre would like to offer Skinner students/families and faculty tickets for $18.00 (min. 20 tickets). Please email us at if you want to and are able to attend.  Thank you!
