Chicago Mosaic School Field Trip 2014

Our 7th graders had the opportunity to visit the Chicago Mosaic School as their field trip this quarter. They had an incredible time touring the gallery viewing mosaic artwork from all over the world and being introduced to the tools and processes of mosaic art-making.
Thank you Mrs. Bradley for your continued vision and partnering with the arts community in bringing studio visit experiences to SN students!!

Art and Scraps

Thank you for all your contributions of newspaper, toilet paper rolls and pop cans and we are ready for our next art project and Mrs. Bradley needs following recyclable goods: K-cups (rinsed please), Newspaper bags, or plastic bags.

We will have the Art collection area labeled and the bins ready for your recyclables!

A big THANK YOU to all the parents, who attended various events last week!

Skinner Families attended the Arts Club’s Harvest Fest, Joffrey ballet’s Swan Lake, Wicker Park’s Boo-Palooza, Skelebrations at Redmoon Theatre (...) just to name a few.

Thank you for taking advantage to enjoying these events together and getting to know Skinner families better.

Swan Lake 2014

This month’s Skinner North Art group outing was to see the Joffrey ballet’s premiere of Swan Lake. It was a fantastic performance and Skinner families and friends had a wonderful time at the ballet and meeting the orchestra.

Here are some highlights for the next coming weeks

The Phantom Tollbooth

DePaul Merle Reskin Theatre

Now through Nov. 15

TU, TH, FR @ 10am  SAT, SUN @ 2pm

Tickets are only $10.00.

"Milo is bored in his bedroom until a magical tollbooth appears and transports him to the Kingdom of Wisdom. Here he discovers the magic of words and numbers, travels to strange lands like Dictionopolis and Digitopolis, and meets a Mathemagician, Spelling Bee, and other curious friends. Will they be able to save Princess Rhyme and Princess Reason if they work together? Based on the beloved book, this whimsical fairy tale proves that imagination and knowledge can change the world."

Nov. 15th @ 2pm

Thanks to the emails we have received from you, we decided to make it a group outing.

These outings are a great opportunity to meet other Skinner families in other grades and develop friendships, we never would have time to do during pick up and drop offs. We would like to invite you to advertise these outings in your grades (via blog, FB, etc.).

Tickets are only $10.00 and can be purchased on under Marketplace.

Frederick - Chicago Children's Theatre

October 15, 2014 - November 16, 2014

First up this season is Leo Lionni’s Frederick, a world premiere musical based on beloved children’s author Leo Lionni’s Caldecott Award-winning book about Frederick the mouse.

"While other mice are gathering food for the winter, Frederick daydreams the summer away. When dreary weather comes, it is Frederick who has stored up something special for the long cold winter. The classic, much-loved early reading book celebrates the idea that there is a place for all of us in this world."
