Art Events Around Chicago

October 26, 2014

Fall is just moving along and as we are approaching winter steadily, Skinner families continue to enjoy the bounty of indoor and outdoor events our city has to offer.

A big THANK YOU to all the parents for their contributions to our “Keep Calm” section! Here are the highlights for the next coming weeks:

Dome of Dance at Wicker Park’s free BOO-PALOOZA
Sponsored by Collaboraction
Saturday, October 25th 10am – 2pm

Dome of Dance will be part of Wicker Park's free Boo-Palooza for the kiddos this Saturday. Lots of great activities starting at 10am including a costume parade. Then at noon we will start our Dome of Dance. It is so much fun-guaranteed to put a smile on all of your faces. And the kids absolutely love dancing and having everyone cheer them on.

The Arts Club, Harvest Fest (free)
Saturday, October 25th 1-3pm

Register for tickets online
In the spirit of colonial reenactment and craft inspired by Allison Smith: Set Dressing, The Arts Club of Chicago will present a Harvest Day for all ages, which is free and open to the public from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm in The Arts Club gallery. A tour of the exhibition, open through 31 January 2015, kicks off the event at 1:00 pm. The rest of the afternoon will feature crafts, storytelling, and seasonal treats that highlight local farming and craft communities.

“The Phantom Tollbooth”
DePaul Merle Reskin Theatre
Oct. 7 – Nov. 15

TU,TH,FR @ 10am
SAT,SUN @ 2pm
Milo is bored in his bedroom until a magical tollbooth appears and transports him to the Kingdom of Wisdom. Here he discovers the magic of words and numbers, travels to strange lands like Dictionopolis and Digitopolis, and meets a Mathemagician, Spelling Bee, and other curious friends. Will they be able to save Princess Rhyme and Princess Reason if they work together? Based on the beloved book, this whimsical fairy tale proves that imagination and knowledge can change the world.

Tickets are only $10.00. Send us an email at SNartscommittee@gmail.com if you are interested in going and we can organize a group event for November!

Auditorium Theatre
Family Fun Day (free)
Sunday, November 9th 1-5pm

The Auditorium Theatre will open its doors from 1– 5PM for a free Family Fun Day full of interactive activities and hands-on experiences highlighting the rich history of the landmark theatre. Allowing families to discover all of the magic the Auditorium has to offer both then and now, activities and entertainment are broken into three sections—“Be A Part of History,” “Engage With the Community” and “Create at the Auditorium.”
