Where did the summer go? It's hard to believe that school will be starting soon--we have just a month left to squeeze in some last-minute playdates, family visits and trips to parks, museums, libraries, beaches and theme parks!
The Friends of Skinner North (FoSN) has been busy this summer, making plans for some fun, community-building activities for the 2014-15 school year, including service projects, our Walkathon and "Starry Night." With your participation, it's going to be a great year!

If you are a new Skinner North family, please make plans to attend the New Family Night on August 9 at Millennium Park--you'll meet lots of great people who are new to the school, too. We hope to see you at the August 23 at the Back-to-School Picnic, as well!
When we return to school, we're going to see some exciting changes in the building. Each classroom will have air conditioning, so our students and teachers can focus on learning and teaching, instead of mopping their brows! The new WeatherBug system and solar panels, (which FoSN helped to get funded), will be in place and our students will be able to participate in real-time weather and solar energy monitoring.
Please mark your calendars for our first FoSN meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 9. We will serve complimentary pizza and lemonade from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m., then have our FoSN meeting from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., and follow it up with the Local School Council meeting from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Have a great summer,
Enjoy the rest of your summer,
Friends of Skinner North, President
